Jerry "J.J." Knauff has two decades of high-profile experience. His areas of expertise include oil and gas, commercial, construction defect, subrogation, appellate and personal injury litigation. J.J. was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2001, is admitted to practice before all of the Texas District Courts, and is a member of the State Bar Association. J.J. received his Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan University (now Texas A&M University School of Law) in 2001 after serving as vice president of the Student Bar Association and business and marketing editor for the Texas Wesleyan Law Review. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in History from Texas Tech University in 1997.
Previously J.J. worked as a briefing attorney for Justice Tom James of the Fifth District Court of Appeals in Dallas. J.J. was named as one of America’s Top 100 Civil Defense Litigators in 2018, 2020, and 2021, named to the Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers’ “Texas Rising Stars” list in 2010 and 2012, named Fort Worth’s “Man of the Year” by the Fort Worth Star Telegram in 2002, and received the State Bar-LSD Legal Professionalism Award in 2001. He has also authored articles for legal journals and presented to major legal conferences.
J.J. has served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Wesleyan Law Review Alumni Association and as a director and volunteer for the Texas Wesleyan “Justice Do It” Pro Bono Program. In his spare time, the father of four coaches lacrosse and flag football, enjoys traveling with his wife, and is a PADI certified scuba diver.
